If Benchcard doesn’t load on a weak connection, it now tries once more by itself. If that fails too, it offers to save your backup and shows a Reload button instead of a blank screen.
New in Settings: you can set the minimum playing time in whole periods. Pick 2, and every kid plays two full periods, start to finish.
New in Settings: make sure every kid gets in at least once each half, or once each quarter.
The limit on how long a kid can play without a rest now shows the time in minutes, so you don’t have to do the math. It also goes higher than before. A break between periods doesn’t count as rest.
Week of 26 October 2026
If you change the plan during a game, the part already played stays as it was. Only the rest of the game changes.
The plan now warns you if a kid would sit out the whole second half.
When you change the plan mid-game, Benchcard remembers how long each kid has already been on the floor without a rest.
Changing the plan during the last period no longer swaps out the five you picked to start it.
If the five you pick for overtime breaks one of your rules, the plan now tells you.
You can set the minimum playing time as a share of the game, like 25%. A kid who shows up late still gets that share of the time that’s left.
When a kid is missing, mark them Out or Running late. During the game, Benchcard only reminds you about the kids who are running late.
Long names shrink to fit instead of getting cut off. If a name is still too long, it breaks onto a second line with a hyphen.
Your team’s name now sits at the top of the main screen in large type. Tap it to switch teams.
On iPhone, if you added Benchcard to your home screen, Share to print now opens the share menu so you can print the card.
New rule: you can stop a kid from sitting on the bench too long in a row. The old Rest limit is now called Plays at most N in a row.
